Working on the iPad

My work laptop was upgraded to Snow Leopard two nights ago. It didn’t go well. It wouldn’t boot after the install and tech support still has it. I’ve been without a computer at work going on two days now. I’m doing my best to keep busy, but it’s starting to become a little bit hard. It’s so nice outside and it’s Friday. Much in the way of distractions out my window.

The OS load being put onto the system isn’t your regular apple operating system. The IT gurus at the highest levels are trying to make our systems as secure and as supportable as they can make them. Whether we can actually do our jobs is really inconsequential. 😉

So, knowing things were looking dire, I brought my iPad in from home. I’ve been able to tie into my webmail and do several bits of work here. It’s actually allowed me to do quite a bit. I wish I’d bought pages and had my Bluetooth keyboard here. Maybe next time. Aside from running my codes and doing analysis, so far I have been fairly productive.

I plan on bringing only my iPad on vacation week after next. I won’t be able to upload photos since I don’t have one of those devices that let’s you upload the card data via the USB port, but other than that, with wi-fi, I should be able to blog and surf.

Looks like the experiment might be possible.

I am a rocket scientist in my day job, and a mother of two all the time. I'm a pop culture addict and amateur artist in my spare time. My typical preferences tend toward sci-fi and fantasy genres but I love a good drama or comedy. Reading the blogs of fellow Lost fans over the years has motivated me to finally write my own.
